About
Americans Agree is a nonpartisan project that tracks what Americans agree on politically, across party lines:
Poll Results are points of agreement among Democrats, Republicans, and Independents in recent national polls.
Insights are articles about surprises and trends in how Americans agree.
Why?
In an era of intense polarization, when media and politicians often emphasize what divides us, Americans Agree shows what unites us. Even within seemingly intractable issues like abortion, immigration, and guns, there are points of agreement.
By viewing politics through an agreement lens, people can see beyond what’s polarizing to what’s possible—the points that, if enacted, all sides could support. Too often these common points are lost in the partisan crossfire. Americans Agree seeks to correct that.
To be clear, the goal is not to eliminate disagreement. There will always be plenty of that, legitimately so. The goal is to restore a healthier balance between what divides us and what unites us—helping Americans see and act on common ground despite other differences.
