Topics without Agreement
To qualify for Americans Agree, a poll result needs to have more than 55% of Democrats, Republicans, and Independents all in agreement. For most topics, we can find some points of agreement that qualify. But sometimes we cannot.
Below are topics where we have not found multi-majority agreement in recent polls but that we are continuing to monitor.
Big Tech: Polls find that people are concerned about the power of big tech, but there have been few specific policy proposals, and no multi-majority agreement, in the polls.
Crime. Polling is often about people’s feelings and concern about crime. We have not found multi-majority support for specific policies.
Energy: Our “Climate” topic touches on this, but there are many other aspects of energy policy, such as opening land or water for oil drilling, and regulating various types of energy production. We have not found multi-majority agreement in these areas.
Housing: People are concerned about affordability, but we are not seeing particular policies with multi-majority support.
Tariffs: As of mid-2025, there was public concern about the effect of tariffs but no multi-majority agreement on a particular tariff policy.
If you know of a poll result we missed—either within the topics above or those we are covering on the main page—first check How We Choose Poll Results. Note especially that (1) we only consider poll results about policies, not about beliefs, general sentiment, people, or campaigns; and (2) we do not consider polls sponsored or conducted by advocacy organizations.
If after making that check, your poll result qualifies, let us know.
